Lecture Series: Physics of Glasses and Supercooled Liquids
The Department of Physical Sciences is organizing a lecture series by Prof. Chandan Dasgupta (IISc and ICTS Bangalore), a renowned theoretical physicist whose research has profoundly advanced our understanding of disordered systems, supercooled liquids, and glasses. His work also spans superconductivity, superfluidity, and nonequilibrium dynamics.
The series, scheduled from 13–27 October, will comprise approximately 12 lecture hours covering topics such as quenched disorder, spin glasses, mode coupling theory, and the Random First-Order Transition (RFOT) theory. One lecture will also focus on computational approaches in the field.
Venue: Asima Chatterjee Lecture Hall (First lecture at M. N. Saha Theatre)
Registration Deadline: October 12, 10 AM
This is an excellent opportunity for students and researchers to explore the theoretical foundations and modern perspectives on the physics of glasses and supercooled liquids.
